A great dump is the start to a great day! (at least for me tbh, and btw please copyright my quote if you think to use it cause it is cool )

As I was fantasizing an easy transition to a sustainable lifestyle, I felt it is systematic to acknowledge the most consumed product in a household- Toilet Paper.

While I can go on and on about the 123.1 million dollars spent annually on cleansing paper products (toilet paper, tissue, paper napkins) (1) or people speculating ( (2), (3), (4) )without the right evidence that toilet papers are the doors to creating a tree-less hell on earth, yet I am going to confront you with the bitter truth.

Sadly, there are more research articles on why people have been hoarding toilet paper during Covid pandemic, rather than research on how toilet paper is hurting our ecosystem. It turns out that the big companies want to just hide their processes while the so called woke organizations such as P&G work towards making their myth's widespread.

I am going to cut through the bullshit and give it to you- let us use some basic common sense- toilet paper comes from one of two sources, source 1- trees (no shit ) and possible source 2- recycled paper.

Its awesome if the toilet paper is coming 100% from recycled paper, but I figured out that there is a process for that too- the crucial step being removal of plastic, metal, and ink from the recycled junk before it can be soft to wipe your ass. (5)

However, we cannot get this data from any commercial toilet paper company and as far as the recycled toilet paper companies' - I hope they are saying the truth but they do cost two-three times the cost of popular brands. We really do not know if toilet paper companies are planting trees like some of them claim, or if they are producing in a sustainable manner...I do not want to believe some commercial promises made by few corporate giants.

I believe that had we been good to mother nature with sustainable innovations, we would have been within a healthier and in a balanced environment, without animal, environmental, human rights activists fighting for what is the bare minimal conscious behavior of humans.

So wrapping this up, I will present you with a solution, that I think is the most eco-friendly yet not so sacrificing like wiping with corn cobs (yes they did this back in the day...!)- Buy yourself a bidet (Amazon for $35), and up-cycle your old cotton t-shirts into wipe cloths- maybe the size of a wash cloth or just buy separate wash cloths.

Bidet is a one time purchase, and you can re-use wash cloths; this will save trips to buy toilet paper, refill toilet paper, not clog the drainage, reduce your bathroom trash, and finally save trees, while saving you some money!

While the great debate still continues of the roll being over or under, I know I am going to be chillin with my new wash clothes cut from my old clothes that I no longer wear, which I definitely I think is still a step closer to going sustainable!

Oh yes we are not done yet, in the next series, know how you can use be eco-friendly when you take your next vacation!

Until next time...
